About

This site was created by a small group of like-minded friends in an attempt to maintain an accurate historical record of the early MP3 scene.

While snippets of information can be found throught the web, much of it is inaccurate or fragmented and a truly definitive source of information does not exist. Our interest in this topic stems not from a desire to illegally obtain music but rather from a fascination with the progression of the scene from a tiny underground movement to a thriving ecosystem, and arguably a multi-billion-dollar industry.

We welcome new contributors to the site, please read more about what we need or get in touch with us.

A big thanks to all those who have contributed so far, this site would not be possible without you. A special mention goes out to Sixteen Colors and Defacto2, both of which have been incredibly useful throughout the project.
