At the beginning of this month MP3 Scene reached its one-year anniversary. Our first year has been a tremendous success, with thousands of files accumulated, many new contributors & staffers and a great deal of support from the community. We would like to extend our thanks to all those that have helped in one way or another, here's to many more years of the same.

A year of operation has, however, exposed a number of cracks in the architecture of the site and many people have made suggestions for improvements/new features. For this reason we have already begun version 2 of MP3 Scene, which will see a rewriting of the entire site, from scratch. We are looking to add a number of new features both public-facing and behind the scenes, but we are still eager to here any suggestions you may have. Please get in touch with any thoughts or ideas via the usual channels.

We've recently hit another major milestone: we now have over 3,000 releases on the site. This is an incredible feat and means MP3Scene is by far the most complete public record of the early mp3 scene. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the contributors so far, without you it's unlikely we could have reached this milestone.

On that note, we are still in great need of contributors. If you have old files, BBS backups, or just a huge collection of old scene releases/files - please get in touch.

A few tweaks have been made to the site in the last week, namely the adding of the section you are currently reading which we will endeavor to update with any significant announcements relating to the site. Throughout the rest of the site there are other small updates - with more to come - and of course plenty of new files.
