Born Lincoln Browder in Dallas, Link was active in gospel choirs and formed his own a cappella group while still a teenager. He was later recruited by R&B impresario Darrell "Delite" Allamby for a quartet named Protégé; when the group split up, Link kept working with Allamby. The duo wrote several songs with collaborator Antoinette Roberson, including "My Body," and when LSG began searching for a lead single, they looked no further. The track became a sizeable hit and soon enough Link debuted with his own recording, 1998's Sex Down. He has also written tracks for Silk and Kut Klose plus Levert and Gill's solo careers.
